Barcelona set €25m price tag for 21-year-old star

According to the Spanish media BRANDBarcelona have decided to only listen to offers of at least €25m for their 21-year-old right-back Sergino Dest.

The outlet further add that the right-back position is the one expected to undergo a heavy transition; both in terms of new arrivals and departures.

As of now, the team has up to four players who can take up space, but all come with their fair share of complications. Dest, for example, failed to convince Xavi that he could be his long-term option.

Dani Alves, meanwhile, is already in the final years of his career while the likes of Oscar Mingueza and Sergi Roberto are themselves facing an uncertain future.

One good thing that works in Barcelona’s favor, however, is that Xavi understands Dest has significant room for improvement. At just 21, Xavi is ready to put in the effort for the player whose tenure at Barcelona has been rather marred by constant injuries.

On top of that, MARCA say Dest’s salary is relatively low, so releasing him wouldn’t have a huge impact on the cap anyway. Therefore, Barca’s priority, right now, is to offload those who restrict heavy moves.

At the same time, the team’s management does not rule out the possibility of a departure in the summer, given that the offer corresponds to at least the aforementioned amount.

Dest signed for Barcelona in 2020 for a fee of €21m plus a potential €5m in additional fees. His buyout clause has been set at €400m.

It is important to note that if Dest leaves, his exit will be followed by a long chase of a certain Cesar Azpilicueta. If Barcelona somehow manage to break Chelsea’s resistance, it will be obvious that they won’t need Dest’s services from there.
