Burnley slap huge £40m price tag on West Ham and Fulham target Nick Pope
BURNLEY is asking for £40m for goalkeeper Nick Pope – whether or not he stays in the Premier League.
Pope, 30, will be a wanted man this summer and Fulham are keen, with a potential three-year deal on offer.
But the Clarets want huge fees for the England ace.
As SunSport revealed earlier this year, Fulham have been eyeing Pope for some time, while West Ham have also been linked.
But clubs had hoped to pay closer to £20m – particularly with Burnley eyeing relegation.
Fulham also want to convince veteran Nemanja Matic to stay in the Prem after leaving Manchester United.
The Championship winners are keen to bring the former Chelsea midfielder back to London.
Matic, 33, has played a key role at United of late and is still very capable at the top level.
But he chose to move on rather than be part of Erik ten Hag’s revolution.
Meanwhile, Clarets boss Mike Jackson will send Burnley into their fight for survival with the message: make this the memory of a lifetime.

The Clarets host Newcastle today and must match Leeds’ result at Brentford to beat the drop
Jackson, who held the reins when Sean Dyche was sacked last month, said: “You always remember the band because you’ve been through a lot together.
“I now remember the teams I was promoted to. I can tell you about each of them and how the group dynamic was, how strong it was.
“You can walk past guys on the street and talk to them in ten, 15 years because you still have that connection. It’s still the same here.
“There have been injuries, the pressure of matches, so continuing to deliver is up to them.
“I just see a bunch of buddies who don’t really care who they’re playing against. Since we’ve been here, every game has been called a “must have”, where you have to get something out of it.
“The guys have been strong and the performances have been solid.”
