Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore is a transfer target for Premier League strugglers Burnley, according to GiveMeSport.

The Clarets are looking for a new talisman following the departure of New Zealand international Chris Wood, who signed for Newcastle United after the Magpies triggered his release clause.

And Sean Dyche could go the same route by replacing Wood with a target-man-type forward in the form of Moore.

The 29-year-old has scored just five times for the Bluebirds this season which is no patch on how he played in his debut campaign in South Wales where he netted 20 league goals.

Championship top-flight Bournemouth have also recently been linked with the Wales international, but the Cherries would have unwilling to pay the £10m price tag on Moore’s head.

Moore’s contract at the Cardiff City Stadium doesn’t expire until the summer of 2023, so it’s likely he’ll have to pay an eight-figure fee to secure his services.

The verdict

While Cardiff does not want to lose its talisman, one has to wonder if Steve Morison could do without him.

Cardiff’s new head coach seems to prefer promising young players and with Moore now 29, he may not be as indispensable as he was in the summer.

Moore had just completed a 20-goal season and there was apparently interest – none of which constituted an accepted transfer offer.

But with just five goals in the current campaign his stock may have fallen slightly – that hasn’t stopped Burnley from being interested and it’s no shock to see Dyche eyeing a big target man like the Welshman .
